With effect from the December 2004 intake, the full-time National Service (NS) duration for those who are currently required to serve a period of 30 months of NS will be reduced by 6 months to 24 months. Full-time NS duration for those currently required to serve for 2 years will remain unchanged. This means that all National Servicemen enlisted from December 2004 will serve 24 months (or two years) of full-time National Service.
